So Close
It is all so close to perfection....how how close?
Strange Ramblings heard in the Eye of the Storm
By: Pancho Chazaro
The Pope has died and everyone is taking it hard, even people who haven't been to church in ages. People who are not even Catholic are mourning. People who are not even religious are mourning. And yet few know why they mourn. Those people mourn because "The pope has died."
This was a Pope who traveled more than any other Pope. He also happened to live in a time where large distance travel was possible. A time when long distance media flourished. Hell, I would be more surprised if he never traveled.
And why did he travel? To preach of course. To spread the word of God. To denounce those who did wrong...but who listened? Who cared? Only those who agreed with the Pope listened. When the Pope spoke against Communist Russia and it's satellites, the Russian government didn't care. Did the citizens of these countries do anything? Very little at that. Eventually, the country fell apart from economic reasons. His preaching didn't cause their economy to plummet.
And when he spoke against Bush and the war on Iraq? Did Bush listen? No. And it was Bush who gave America his eulogy. Calling him a great hero and all that, but neglecting the fact that the Pope despised Bush and found everything that Bush did wrong. But that's not in the news.
People are mourning because he was the Pope. Because he was Polish. Because he was the only Pope they knew. People are mourning because he spoke out (even though no one listened.) They are mourning because he was well respected. But he was only respected because he was the Pope.
And the next Pope will be respected also. If he’s Italian, he won’t be respected as much from the Polish community. They liked the last Pope cause he was Polish too. He’ll travel the world too. He has to; it’s expected now. He’ll have to talk about wrong things in the world that no one who disagrees will listen too. He has to do the job of the Pope. Lead those who already believe in him.
And try and dream about changing the world.
